Campania: best archaeological sites
Which is the best archaeological site that we have in Campania? There are different interpretations about that. Let’s see.
Different sites in Campania
For example, do you prefer looking at the ancient ruins or do you better like the coastline with the view, the sea, the natural rocks and the pretty shops? Maybe you could like to explore an ancient volcanic area like Mount Vesuvius or the Fire Fields. Otherwise you can decide to see the modern art and monuments like royal palaces and museums.
Time to enjoy Campania
During my career I’ve noticed that people always enjoy their holidays here. Climate around Naples is warm, the natural beauties are enchanting and this is an area full of history and Roman monuments too. There is everything to enjoy it. It’s incredible how people don’t feel stressed climbing Mount Vesuvius or how they can walk for hours around Pompeii without feeling tired. I think that this is possible because when a place is interesting you don’t care about the difficulties. Learning and looking at something new is always good. That’s what I usually notice working with tourists.
Time for rest and relaxation
But there is a time for rest and relaxation too. It’s rest time when you sit at a table in a restaurant of the Amalfi Coast to eat spaghetti with clams or pizza or to taste a glass of local wine or limoncello. In Italy for example we often finish our lunch with a small glass of limoncello or with the typical short and strong Italian coffee. If you like art you should know that in Naples there are some of the most famous museums in the world. The Archaeological Museum of Naples is one of the most important museums in the world about archaeology: inside there are all the original artifacts from Pompeii; you will walk surrounded by statues, frescoes and mosaics, feeling as staying at the ancient Greek-Roman times.
The ruins
Or you can go to Cuma, the most ancient Greek colony in Italy, few miles faraway from Naples, walking upon the ruins of the Temple of Apollo or the Temple of Jupiter, feeling the sensation of staying at the time of Homer, like Ulysses or Achilles. It’s a magic atmosphere. The best poets, artists and writers celebrated these beauties in their books. This is a legendary area.
